Our Rescue Pets
Kim and Paula are passionate about animals and have actively rescued unwanted dogs to provide them a loving home. Many of the rescues in the home came to us through Paula’s veterinary practice where she was the resident doctor. Rather than euthanizing these injured or unwanted dogs, Paula patched them up herself and we found a place for them in our home. Others were shelter rescues that needed rehabilitation. Each one is a beloved member of our family until they cross over the rainbow bridge.
George
George was the soul survivor of his litter who had all died of parvo. He was brought into Paula’s veterinary clinic but the owner’s surrendered him when they couldn’t afford treatment and the clinic wanted to try to save him rather than euthanize him. George was treated and adopted from the clinic, growing into a feisty, outgoing boy who loves to play with his toys, sleep on his back, and give morning kisses to Kim.
Hank
Hank came into the veterinary clinic as a small puppy with a broken leg after a good samaritan picked him up after being hit by a car. He’s a cowboy corgi, part heeler and part corgi, and Paula named him after the book character Hank the Cowdog. Hank now loves to run and is the self-appointed family protector who is Paula’s ever-present shadow.
Olivia
Olivia was a surrender to Paula’s veterinary clinic because her owners couldn’t afford to pay for her treatment of a seriously fractured leg. The clinic began treatment for the fracture when they diagnosed her with a serious case of parvo, resulting in seizures and too many close calls of losing her. After she had been saved, she was our miracle puppy and we adopted her, giving her a forever home.
Bailey
Bailey was rescued by the cops from a drug house in Rockdale, Tx. She was one of several dogs rescued from that home and through the networking of rescuers, we learned of Bailey and knew we could find a place for her in our home. She loves to run, climb, and give big toothy grins to the family. She is best friends with and a constant companion to our daughter Savannah.
Sam & Delilah
Sam & Delilah were two feral kittens about 10 days old who were brought into the Killeen Animal Shelter. Still needing milk, we were advised the little “spitfires”, so named because they hissed at everything, needed constant care. Our daughter Leslie brought them home to foster, bottle feeding them every 3 hours, and raised them here with her senior cats Indie & Chiyo who were also rescues. Sam & Delilah are inseparable and we couldn’t bear the idea of splitting them up. Sam & Delilah were officially adopted by our daughter when they were 4 months old and we’ve enjoyed watching them grow.

Boo Boo Bear
Boo Boo Bear was brought to Paula’s veterinary clinic to be euthanized after his entire litter had died of parasites and mange. He was surrendered by the owners and the clinic took on the the task to try to save him. He barely had his eyes open and was a pathetic sight. After a long treatment period, Boo recovered fully and is living a long and happy life with our daughter Leslie. He is a beacon of light, always happy to see you, and loves his family.
Gator
The family was on a fishing trip to Lake Granger and had stopped at the store to get fishing supplies. There was a sign across the street for adoptions, and when we went to take a look there was one little chihuahua that had not been adopted due to a serious lack in social and bonding skills. Our son Jake instantly took to him, teaching Gator what it is to love and be loved, and how to trust. Jake and Gator are constant companions and Gator even has the honor of wearing his own bling, a gift from his favorite person.
